"Dreamville"

http://floridaspringsinstitute.org/pages/glen-spring-restoration-plan

"Dreamville" is Tom Petty's sweet, nostalgic ballad about growing up here.

Bob Knight has posted this short video performance of "Dreamville" next to
a picture of Glen Springs pool- part of the song's storyline.

Glen Springs is one of Gainesville's springs- it fed a pool and was a popular swimming hole when Tom was a boy.

Today it looks much different.

I am overcome with such grief when I listen to this song-
Tom seems to echo the whole of Florida- grieving for the disappearing springs-
lamenting a quality of life which is disappearing along with our beloved artesian springs.

Is Florida becoming "Dreamville?"
We have a choice- but getting this message to the mainstream is very difficult.
The People of Florida must stand together to command the well being of Florida's water and
The People of Florida have no clue is our responsibility.

We are choosing to let our springs die by not joining together. To get involved- stay on the Florida Springs Institute's page-and check it out.

The Florida Springs Institute is one entire arm of The Blue Path- a major project of Florida's Eden.
Bob Knight, Dr. Knight is the foremost springs ecologist on the planet- he's here along with so many of the world's springs and aquifer experts- because we are the Earth's grand canyon of fresh water springs.

Are we all going to let them die- we must command policy changes in how we manage our state's water resources. We are over tapping the aquifer and these lower aquifer levels are decreasing the flow of the springs- this is the unnecessary consequence of mismanagement by our state.

Please everyone- we do have a choice- get involved and be the voice for the springs-
Will it be Florida or Dreamville?

Florida Premier or "Terra Blight"

http://www.gainesville.com/article/20120505/ENT03/120509783/1006/NEWS?Title=L...

One of the wonderful things about Gville is that we get to have world class events like this Florida Premier of "Terra Blight" by our own award winning, film maker Eric Flagg and his crew- and at the Hipp. This is a prime example of the talent levels here in this innovative community. read what director Johnathan Demme wrote in praise of Eric and the film!

Please do check out the above link on GainesvilleSun.com and then share the link on facebook and through emails. NOTE: To see the second page you must scroll down farther than you might think and click "next page."

Please Come on Tuesday to meet Eric and watch this 55 min. documentary with us. Let's discover together, exactly what is in our cell phones and iPads that's causing such a hazardous nightmare around the world- I will be seeing this for the first time too- and am appalled that our love affair with electronics is ending up in devastating landfills.

Thanks for your help in spreading the word and supporting this film.

Annie's Blog: Volunteer at the Primavera Kick Off Thursday!

Hi Everybody!

I'm writing to entice you to come help us with the Primavera Kick Off Celebration-
I need Florida's Eden member volunteers to welcome and assist us with simple hosting tasks.
Its easy and fun- and you'll automatically have a coveted ticket to the event in the SFC Fine Arts Hall!
Please read the info below and RSVP your availability directly back to me-
Volunteers are need from 4-8 pm., Thursday, March 22nd.

Hopefully you've seen and heard the coverage of our biggest Florida's Eden project to date;
Primavera 2012- created and coordinated by Florida's Eden to put Gville
on the map as a prime, cultural destination.

Primavera is a month long celebration
of the peak of our spring cultural season-
March 20th through April 22nd.

We're gathering everything that happens
and marketing it all under one named festival-
to create a bigger story to tell a wider media
and attract a bigger audience.

To date, Primavera boasts over 150 events in more
than 60 venues across Gainesville and Alachua Co.
And it continues to grow everyday,  like an organic garden!

This week it all begins with the Primavera Kick Off Celebration
at the Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall,
Thursday March 22nd from 5:30-7:30.
Nell Page will emcee and Alora Haynes and I will help host.

It means a great deal to me if you'll come support Florida's Eden
as we unveil the first Primavera season together.

Its an historic occasion as the directors from the 11 Premier Headliner events each take the stage to unveil their part of Primavera- I'm thrilled because its always been my vision to bring the cultural community, which has never gathered together before, under one roof!

The event is free but seating is limited-
Please also help us spread the word for public attendance:
The first 300 people who are at the door at 5:30 sharp
will be given a free ticket-
Come help us host, get a ticket and witness this Gville Happening.

PLEASE- sign up now to help us pull it off!
Most Sincerely,
Annie Pais
